I’ve suffered with Hypothyroidism for 2/3 of my life. That’s 16 years! It’s caused by Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis. It causes the body’s immune system to attack the thyroid tissue, affecting the hormone gland in the front of your neck, shaped like a butterfly. The gland make hormones that control the way your body uses energy, which means I have to work twice as hard, twice as long for HALF the result everybody else gets. If untreated, I’d be at higher risk for outrageously high cholesterol levels and more likely to have a Stroke or Heart Attack.
I want to start a family with my future husband. I want to live as long a life as I possibly can. Hypothyroidism is not like Diabetes. If I lose the weight, Hypothyroidism will not go away. I am medicated for the rest of my life. Don’t worry…. It’s not contagious, and is actually more common than people think. Which is why my blog is taking a new turn.
I may be changing my URL, but I’m not sure yet. I’m not sure if there are other blogs out there like me, but I want to post things that help others like me try to lose the weight.
